It’s hard to think of a more famous and ubiquitous shoe than the Nike Air Force 1.
With an unparalleled legacy, it comes as no surprise that a shoe with over 5000 different colourways might be one of the greatest ever made (it is Nike’s top-selling model after all).
Having first graced the scene in 1982, Bruce Kilgore’s unrivaled and innovative silhouette has stood the test of time thanks to its influential design. Not only was it the first model to fully include Air cushioning technology to maximize comfort, but its versatility and cultural significance have remained relevant for four decades leading all the way into 2022.
That in itself is cause for celebration and seeing how this year marked the 40th anniversary of Nike’s iconic Air Force 1, we decided to throw two parties to commemorate the occasion.
First, we set the festivities off right at our size? Toronto location where we hosted a late-night function featuring DJs Skratch Bastid, Jayemkayem and SAVVV. Together, they played a captivating mix of music that makes us feel for anyone that missed out; then two weeks later, we followed the same formula and brought the celebration to size? Vancouver with DJs Kilo Cee and Marvel. Because if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it — right?
All in all, both nights were massive success stories for us at size? and we were thrilled to share a moment in AF1 history with our community. None of this is possible without the people who support and the subcultures where fashion thrives, so cheers to 40 years of the Air Force 1 and thanks to everyone who came out to make both nights unforgettable.
We’d also like to shout out Vancouver’s Strathcona Brewery and Toronto’s LayLow Brewery for the beverages, if you’re ever in either city, definitely check them out!
