Carhartt WIP
Originally founded by Hamilton Carhartt, the Detroit-based brand started by creating high-quality workwear for manual labourers and railroad workers across the USA in 1889. What first started out as just two sewing machines and about five employees creating products out of duck and denim, has now expanded into both the workwear and casual lifestyle space. Eventually, Carhartt’s “Work In Progress” subdivision was launched by Edwin Faeh in 1994 to bring the authentic American designs to the European market. Trawling back through their eclectic archives, Carhartt’s WIP collection draws on their old workwear-inspired pieces and reimagines them for the urban environment.
