Founded in Boston in 1906, New Balance is world-renowned for producing comfortable and responsive shoes, but this wasn’t always the case. The brand originally sold high-quality arch supports, later expanding into footwear in 1938. The unusual numbering system was also introduced for a reason – Terry Heckler, the designer of the "N" logo wanted an equal perception of each shoe so the customer could choose their favourite. This, alongside countless other innovations, helped New Balance become a household name, and the brand has only grown in popularity. Thanks to their comfort-first approach to design seen in models like the 990, 550 and 2002R, New Balance is also known and trusted around the world as an athleisure and footwear giant.
